The local story of the Funny Tree is that it was created by Native Americans.  They tied saplings, which performed the same functions as highway signs today, to mark their trails and direct tribal members to their summer and winter camping grounds, their favorite hunting grounds, and any other places that they habitually visited.  Through the years, trees tied in this manner assumed unusual and unique forms and then, in and of themselves became landmarks.  Such trees can still be found in the surrounding area although they are becoming rare as time passes and the trees die or are destroyed.  We believe the Funny tree is the most unique specimen remaining in this area.  It is located on the road into WindSong Farm on the left hand side of the road.
